Foothill College

Located in an area of million dollar homes (try and find student housing there) and minus any sort of 'fertile' recruiting territory nearby, Foothill College men's basketball keeps chugging along regardless.

Coming off a season in which reaching the Final Eight in the state community college tournament was achieved, Foothill Coach Matt Stanley and Associate Head Coach James Herrera get their guys better and utilize systems that magnify strengths while camouflaging weaknesses.

The Owls are currently 7-4 (with just two home games) and led by two double-figures scorers in sophomore Jackson (Bellarmine College Prep) Gion at 16.2 points per game and Matt (Mills High) Wong with 10.3 a contest. Four other Foothill players average between 8.0 and 9.3 points per outing.

Despite an absence of anyone remotely resembling a shotblocker or defensive intimidator and no gazelles running and jumping around the court to oohs and aahs from fans, Foothill is holding opponents to 41% overall shooting thus far as well as 26% from long distance while owning 43% and 36% accuracy numbers respectively.

The Owls do what they do best and simply can't be forced into a tempo or shot attempts not to their benefit. Good coaching and smart players is a combination to fear.
