Up in the City of Roses, Sacramento State fell to Portland 81-73 on Saturday. Senior guard Bryce Pressley posted a seven point, five assist, four rebound line for the victors. For the Hornets, Cody Demps led with both 20 points and five assists.
The Sacramento Bee game reports: "Sacramento State faded late in the first half and fell short in its comeback, losing 81-73 to host Portland on Saturday night.
The Pilots ended the first half with a 15-5 run for a 46-32 halftime lead. Sac State made only 11 of 32 shots in the half. Portland sank 14 of 28, including 7 of 11 from three-point range. The Pilots also had a 26-14 rebounding advantage in the half.
The Hornets (6-3) trailed 75-63 with 2:16 left but made a late charge behind Cody Demps. He scored seven of his 20 points in the final 1:33, including a three-pointer that brought Sac State within 79-73 with 19 seconds left.
But Gabe Taylor scored on a dunk with nine seconds left, capping his 17-point performance for Portland (5-6)."
