The latest on Micah Elan & Lick Wilmerding

Micah Elan and Lick-Wilmerding High are making great music together. In winning three games and thus the championship at the Cardinal Classic over the weekend, the Tigers now stand 9-0 and Elan was honored for the second time this season as the most valuable player in a tournament.

In game one, 57-33 versus Balboa, Elan had 16 points on 5 of 9 twos [he missed three tip in attempts], and 2 of 2 threes; 11 rebounds, two assists, two steals, three turnovers and a block in about 20 minutes. 10 of his points and rebounds were in the first quarter while the Tigers built an 18-10 lead.

Game two was a 57-30 victory against Capuchino and Elan scored 19 points on 5 of 6 twos, 2 of 3 threes, and 3 of 3 free throws, alongside seven rebounds, three assists, three turnovers and two steals in 18+ minutes of play. In the fourth quarter, he entered just long enough to dunk on an alley-oop.

In the 69-51 championship game versus Carlmont, Elan had 17 points on 4 of 4 twos, 1 of 2 threes, and 6 of 8 free throws. Also, seven rebounds, four assists, three turnovers, a pair of steals and a block in about 30 minutes of court time.

Defensively, he guarded the best player on the other team in each game.

Teammates Walter Lum and Royce Fong made the all tournament team.
