He could enter the draft and go in the first round to a team willing to wait (and pay) for down-the-road results. Most mid-to-late NBA first-rounders are gambles anyway due to talent ceiling levels so why not go boom-or-bust on a guy with a potential big kaboom? But Pope won't be a lottery selection which he could attain after another college season.
