REPORT ON 2016 SO CAL SENIOR SHOWCASE

The seventh annual Southern California Senior Showcase was held Saturday March 26, 2016 at Cerritos College in Norwalk. Approximately 225 players in the class of 2016 participated. Here is a report on the event (requires some scrolling down).

Below is a smattering of the northern California prospects who participated, focusing on 'newish' names (although many more are listed so do hit the link):

* 5’10” PG Thomas Avent of Vanden HS 2016 (Oakland Soldiers)
Strong PG who is really skilled, nice handle, good passer, solid mid range game, tough defender.

and

* 6’5” SF Derek Burgess of Valley Christian HS 2016 (West Coast Elite)
Good motor, really active on both ends, good open court ball handler, finishes at rim, shoots it ok with 3 range, has a floater.

and

6’4” SF Deshawnte Collins of Freedom HS 2016 (Team Select)
Active forward who has a nose for the ball, rebounds on both ends, finishes around the basket.

and

6’5” F Brandon Hall of San Leandro HS 2016 (West Coast Fire)
Big bodied bully who gets to rim, works hard on offensive glass, will shoot 3.

and

6’5” F Mason Johnson of Pleasant Grove HS 2016 (Oakland Soldiers)
Active forward who is aggressive driver, good straight line attack, works hard on the glass, will post up and dribble operate, runs in transition.

and

6’0” PG John Ketchel of Freedom HS 2016 (Team Select)
Solid one man who can run a team, good first step, nice pull up jumper, good shooter from 3, has a floater, crafty passer.

and

* 6’5” G Ian Miller of Vintage HS 2016 (Team Select)
Good handle in open court, moves ok without the ball, good shooter from 3.

and

* 6’7” F Paul Oha of Deer Valley HS 2016 (Team Select)
Long and rangy athlete, active on both ends of the floor, finishes in transition, attacks rim.

and

* 6’0” G Devin Pierce of Freedom HS 2016 (Team Select)
Very explosive slasher who plays at and above the rim, good straight line driver, aggressive, knows how to get to rim.

and

* 6’1” G Cole Rothman of Aptos HS 2016 (Independent #1)
Active guard who plays really hard, good shooter from mid-range and out to the 3, good handle in transition and is a good passer, pulls up in the half court, hustles on both ends.

and

*6’10” F Michael Steadman of James Logan HS 2016 (West Coast Fire)
Long, thin body, runs well, good hands, nice 15’ jumper, will post with turnaround jumpers, has a jump hook, good defender who blocks and changes shots, needs strength. Has some upside.
