Taplin named Player of the Week in PacWest Conference

Taplin averaged 24.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game for the Penguins. He shot 60.7 percent from the field (17-28) and 84.6 percent from the free throw line (11-13). He scored a season-best 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting against No. 24 BYU-Hawaii. He then nearly filed a triple-double with 20 points, 18 rebounds and eight assists in a win over Chaminade. His 18 rebounds set a Dominican Division II record. Taplin ranks fifth in the PacWest in rebounding (7.4 rpg) and eighth in scoring (15.9 ppg).
