Cal-Hi Sports Northern California Boys Basketball Player of the Week is:
Anthony Townes (Modesto Christian) Sr.
Averaging a double-double this season, Anthony matched his season-high with 30 points while grabbing 11 rebounds during a 82-54 win over Johansen of Modesto to end the regular season. A 6-foot-5 senior power forward, he is averaging 20.1 points and 10.2 rebounds for the Crusaders, who are the No. 2 seed in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division II playoffs and just broke into the overall State Top 20 this week. Many in the section are highly anticipating a D2 final between Modesto Christian and Sacramento.
Next season, Townes will be playing right down the street from our Stockton office as he will be one of three players from Modesto Christian on the University of the Pacific’s men’s basketball team.
