Serra High by two over Mitty

From the Serra High athletics site:

The Padre basketball team defeated the visiting Mitty Monarchs on Saturday night to complete the three game WCAL week with a perfect 3-0 record. 

The win puts the Padres in a three-way tie for first in the WCAL standings with Sacred Heart and Mitty.  

Serra jumped out to an early one-point lead at the end of the first quarter, but Mitty answered and took an eight-point lead into the locker room at the half.  

The third quarter was pivotal as Serra was able to erase the lead and head into the fourth quarter with a two-point lead.  

The score was 58-50 Serra with about three minutes left and the Padres were able to withstand the Monarch surge at the end, holding on by a score of 61-59.  

Senior Jason Barsochinni led the Padres with 15 points while junior Henry Caruso chipped in with 14 points and 8 rebounds.  

The win puts the Padres mark at 13-2 (4-1 WCAL) with a trip to St. Ignatius up next on Wednesday.
