"The Modesto Junior College men's basketball team got within striking distance against the second-best team in Northern California.

Ultimately the Pirates lost to Santa Rosa 75-65. Desi Barmore and Mike Hill led the Pirates with 14 points each and Austin Keaton added 13. Modesto (18-9, 6-6 Big 8) cut the Bear Cubs' lead to eight points with about eight minutes remaining, but missed a 3-pointer and a chance to pick up some momentum. Santa Rosa (23-4, 12-0) quickly distanced itself again"
