* Cabrillo College 74 - Sierra College 58
From the Cabrillo College basketball site: "In the opening game of the Cabrillo college Classic the Seahawks were able to come away with a big victory over a tough Sierra College Team. The game began with each team trading baskets, until Cabrillo was able to push the lead to 10 early at 17-7. The rest of the half saw Sierra fight back, and Cabrillo respond. As the half wound down, Sierra made a run to cut the lead to 36-32 at the break. To start the second half, Sierra was able to take a four point lead only to see Cabrillo respond with a run of their own. The Seahawks got big shots from AJ Wright and David Abittan to regain the lead and they would never give back. When all was said and done Cabrillo emerged with a 74-58 victory. Warren Jackson and Wright would lead the charge for Cabrillo with 16 points each. Abittan chipped in 10 while Zavon Jackson and Allen Wilcher each tallied 9 points. The win improved Cabrillo to 5-2, up next for the Seahawks is a Sunday contest vs Butte College in the last game of the Cabrillo College Classic."

The Fresno City College men's basketball team will try to capture another tournament title Saturday.
The state's second-ranked Rams defeated Sacramento 78-55 in the semifinals of the 76th Modesto Junior College tournament on Friday. Rich Tesmer led Fresno City with 13 points.
The Rams (11-1) have won two of the three tournaments they've played in this season and will go for a third title at 7 p.m. Saturday against Chabot, which beat Contra Costa 73-57.
