6-foot-1 Dominique Taplin has concluded his athletic eligibility at Dominican University with mighty impressive numbers. He led the Penguins in scoring this season at 16.9 points plus rebounding with 7.2 while his 73 assists were second on the team. Taplin shot 49%, 45% and 79% respectively. PacWest Defender of the Year honors were bestowed on him as well as All-PacWest Second Team.
From Penguin athletics: "Taplin was seventh in the PacWest in rebounding (7.2 rpg) and fourth in defensive boards (158). He was also third in the PacWest in scoring (16.9 ppg), sixth in field goal percentage (.495), and second in minutes played (35.3 mpg). Taplin recorded three double-doubles, including 20 points and 18 rebounds against Chaminade, which set the Dominican Division II rebound record. He finishes his career with 1,086 points, having become the first Dominican player to reach the 1,000-point plateau in the DII era. He also holds the records for rebounds (458), free throws made (258), games started (67), and minutes (2,517). His 472 points, 161 field goals made, 113 free throws made, and 202 rebounds in 989 minutes this season alone set program single-season records in the DII era."
