John Ketchel had 15 points and Kendall McIntosh 12 to lead Freedom (19-11) against Woodcreek (26-5), the Sac-Joaquin Section runner-up.

* San Ramon Valley 76, Pleasant Grove-Elk Grove 62: The host Wolves withstood a game-high 31 points from the Eagles' Marquese Chriss and held on to win this CIF Division I Regional quarterfinal.

No. 3 seed San Ramon Valley jumped to a 20-9 lead after the first quarter. Pleasant Grove (22-10) used a 7-0 run in the second quarter to cut the Wolves' lead to 23-18. But San Ramon Valley went on an 11-0 run to close the first half with a 41-25 lead.

"We were stymied a little bit with the (Pleasant Grove) zone," San Ramon Valley coach Brian Botteen said. "So once we were able to get it back in transition, I thought that helped us out a lot more."

San Ramon Valley (24-6) was led by Christian Fuca with 18 points.
