UC Irvine gave it a great shot yesterday but fell just short, losing 57-55 to Louisville last night in an opening round NCAA tourney pairing. Will Davis led the charge with 14 points (7-12 shooting) plus nine boards (four offensive, five defensive). The Anteaters out-shot the Cardinals 46% to 42%.
In what has to be some of the most unusual statistics for a Big Dance game, Irvine was 2-2 from the foul line with Louisville going 6-6. Perfection, just not many attempts.
