The Stockton Record:

Delta (19-10) led 7-2 before Foothill 's 16-2 run pushed the Owls (15-16) to a 38-34 halftime lead. Foothill led by as many as 11 points before the Mustangs closed it to 54-52 on a layup by Treyvon Merriweather with 28 seconds to go.

After Foothill's Seth Turner made only one of two free throws, the Mustangs had a chance to tie it with 19 seconds remaining. However, a handoff from Troy Anderson (10 points, 14 rebounds) to Belasco was bobbled and resulted in a turnover.

The Mustangs still had life when J.J. Espanola missed both of his free throws with 10 seconds remaining. Belasco (3 points) faked his way into an open shot at the top of the arc, but his 3-pointer was off target.

Dwayne Lee led the Mustangs with 23 points, while Janvier Alaby paced Foothill with 13 points.

"Our effort was there," Delta coach Rich Ressa said. "I thought sometimes there was a little slip in our execution, but our effort is always there. It's been a great year."
