The 2015 Bay Area Memorial Day Classic Report

"The fifth annual Bay Area Memorial Day Classic was held Saturday to Monday May 23-25 at City College of San Francisco, Nor Cal Courts in Martinez and Jamtown in Oakland. 100 teams from throughout the West Coast in four divisions (17 Elite, 17 Varsity, 16U, 15U)  participated. Here is a report on the Elite and Varsity divisions. Players are listed alphabetically by last name.

Top Prospects: (*indicates highest consideration for this category)

*6’0” SG/PG Quinton Adlesh of Mission College Prep 2015 (3 Ball Academy)

(MVP of the Elite division from the championship team)

-High-volume shooter with real deep range, run and gun player who loves to pull up in transition, can handle and pass, moves well without the ball. Committed to Columbia.

*6’2” SF/SG Gabe Adzich of Saint Francis HS 2016 (Above and Beyond 17U Varsity)

(MVP of the Varsity division from the championship team)

- Plays hard on both ends, attacks the rim hard, deceptive athlete that will dunk on you. Rebound wells for his size, can start the fast break, sees the court well, good passer. Moves well without the ball, pulls up nicely in the half court, shoots it fairly well with 3 range.

*5’10” PG James Akinjo of Salesian HS 2018 (Team Arsenal 16u)

- Athletic, capable ball handler, can finish in transition, pulls up fairly well half court, moves well without the ball, good shooter with 3-point range.

6’1” PG Tyrell Alcorn of El Cerrito HS 2015 (NBBA 17 Noles)

-Athletic one man who excels in an up-tempo game. Handles and passes it well, pulls up well, fairly good shooter with 3 range, can run a team.

*6’5” WF Austin Alexander of Kennedy HS 2017 (JT Elite)

- Nice build with good jumping ability and long arms. Nice one-bounce drive and finishes at the rim. Has deceptive handles and rebounds well on both ends of the court.

6’2” PG Angelo Athens of Bellarmine Prep 2017 (Top Flight 16u Red)

- Competitive one man who gets a lot of things done. Very confident ball handler who runs a team and makes the right pass. He can pull up in the half court and he can shoot the 3-pointer.

6’8” C Aaron Banks of El Cerrito HS 2017 (Team Arsenal 16u)

- Real big body (does need to get his body better), moves ok without the ball, can dribble operate on the block, decent postup scorer, can rebound in his box.

6’6” PF JT Branch of Antioch HS 2015 (Lakeshow 17 Black)

-Athletic four man who plays with energy. Can impact the game at both ends. Ok mid-range shooter, capable rebounder.

6’2” PG Terrell Brown of Moreau Catholic HS 2016 (Team Arsenal 17u)

- Athletic and has a motor. Can handle it, finishes well in transition and has an ok transition floater, sees the floor on the break. Moves well without the ball, solid rebounder from the guard spot, makes things happen.

*6’4”WF Mazae Boyd of Newark Memorial 2016 (East Bay Nets 17)

- Athletic slasher who can shoot the 3 ball. Very active defender that gets into the passing lanes.

*6’0” G Joey Calcaterra of Marin Catholic HS 2017 (Lakeshow 16 Elite)

- Competes on the defensive end. Uses his body well to finish at the rim. One of the few players that can catch and shoot the 3. Can also put it on the floor and hit mid-range shot too..."
