Waldow's replacements

One of the early 2015-16 season question marks about St. Mary's basketball was who were the possibilities for stepping up and ameliorating, to at least some degree, the gigantic hole created by the departure of Brad Waldow?

6-foot-9, 225 pound Aussie Dane Pineau was one candidate, coming off a season of averaging 3.8 points and 3.7 rebounds in 14.3 minutes per game while shooting 56%, 24% and 63%.

Jock Landale, at 6-foot-11, 255 and also from Oz, was another possibility, bringing 2.1 points and 0.9 rebounds a game with him alongside 61% and 54% shooting. He didn't attempt a three-pointer last season.

This season, Pineau is at 9.3 points plus 8.5 rebounds with 54%, 40% and 67% shooting accuracy. Landale is at 9.0 and 4.3 plus 62% and 84%.

Playing time for both has obviously also increased with Pineau jumping from 14.3 minutes to 24.9 and Landale enjoying 15.5 minutes versus 5.0.

Greater opportunity is one thing, taking advantage of such quite another and Pineau and Landale are doing just that.
