As covered in the above, this question is begged: did the Buckeye staff perform due diligence on each of the departed four before signing them? One, maybe two defections, is fairly understandable, but four? Ohio State carries enough prestige and affiliation that shouldn't require a state of signing desperation. So how did so much go wrong?
