On Saturday in Surf City, UC Santa Cruz was beaten by Illinois Tech 68-62. Shooting 4-5 from three-point range, Kyle (Whitney High) Creighton led the Slugs with 16 points. Out of Aptos High, 6-foot-4 freshman guard Ben Dorfman led with nine rebounds. Tyler (Moreau Catholic High) Klingenbeck put together eight points and six boards in just 17 minutes of play.
