The Contra Costa College Comets weekend

Contra Costa College played in the Foothill tournament on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The outcomes:

FRIDAY
"The Comets defeated the host team Foothill College 51-50 in opening round of the Foothill College Tournament. Nothing came easy for the Comets as they ended their 7 game losing streak, but they grinded their way to a win. F Curtis Harris led the Comets with 12 points and 13 rebounds while G Uriah Benning added 10 points and 4 rebounds. G Dru Solis added 8 points and 2 rebounds off the bench. The Comets play at 6 PM tomorrow vs either Butte College or Delta College."

SATURDAY
"The Comets nearly pulled off a huge upset against a top 10 team in the state of California in Butte College, but fell 61-59. In a back and forth up and down game, the Comets just couldn't get shots to fall down the stretch. G Demar Dunn led the Comets with 17 points 3 rebounds and 2 assists, while F Curtis Harris added 15 points and 10 rebounds. G Dru Solis added 9 points and 3 rebounds. The Comets await the loser of the Feather River/Marin game."

SUNDAY
"The Comets fell to Feather River College in the consolation final of the Foothill College Tournament, finishing the preseason with a 2-9 record. Leading 4 Comets in double figures was F Marquis Jones with 13 points and 3 rebounds and G Jalen Walton with 13 points 2 rebounds. F Kolman Kelly added 10 points and 8 rebounds and F Demond Washington added 10 points and 6 rebounds. The Comets open up Conference play on December 21st."
