Good news on Malik Pope

"Pope moves closer to return for SDSU" -- Mark Ziegler

He played Saturday night in a victory over Utah State:

"...Heal was the operative word Saturday night, with Malik Pope’s left knee sufficiently recovered after missing the previous six games and all four in the Mountain West. He didn’t start, subbing in with 15:16 left in the first half, but he did make an immediate impact.

The Aztecs promptly went on a 16-4 run and were plus-16 with Pope on the floor in the first half. Midway through the second half, they were plus-29 with No. 21 out there.

Pope finished with nine points (on 3 of 4 shooting), five rebounds, one assist and one block in 23 productive minutes. SDSU is now 19-1 over the last two seasons when he scores eight or more.

“I felt a little fatigued toward the end of the game, the last five or seven minutes,” Pope said. “Other than that, I felt great...”
