Michael Smith sets school scoring record

(Coach Rick Croy and CBU President Dr. Ronald L. Ellis present Michael Smith with the game ball after he sets a new all-time scoring record)

"It was a big night in the Van Dyne Gym Saturday night. Not only did No. 5-ranked California Baptist University dominate Concordia University of Irvine 89-55, Michael Smith set a new all-time scoring record.

And there are still more games to be played.

The Lancers improve to 15-1 overall, 7-1 in the PacWest, and extend their unbeaten streak to seven-straight games. The Eagles drop to 9-7 on the year, 5-3 in conference.

Smith only needed 13 points to surpass Warren Daniels' record of 1,716 career points set back in 1992, and he nearly had that at halftime. The senior guard finished with 23 points on 6-of-12 shooting to put his career tally to 1,727 points..."
