Jolting news

Evan Daniels: "Sophomore guard Paris Austin just received a release from Boise State, per a source. Averaged 12.3 PPG."

After a sophomore season in which he averaged in double figures and shot much better from the floor (except 7-33 from long distance), this change of address and its timing are a mystery.

The 6-foot Austin likely would have been a full-time starter at the point with Boise being a title contender in the Mountain West Conference so nothing seems amiss there.

So why leave?

Based purely on gut feeling and no inside scoop whatsoever, California is certainly in need of someone with his experience, even though Austin will have to redshirt the upcoming season. If proven true, that still leaves the now part of the decision unexplained.
