THE STAT LINE: Crum sank the game-winning shot in the last second to give the Dragons a 49-48 victory over Castro Valley in the Hayward Area Athletic League opener for both schools. He scored a team-high 17 points and added 10 steals. In a 47-34 victory over McClymonds, Crum scored 11 points and added five steals and three rebounds.

Honorable mention:

TYLER CHARRETTE, Berean Christian, basketball, Sr. -- Charrette powered the Eagles to a 83-75 win over Hoopa Valley in the first round of the Cloverdale Tournament with 46 points, including a 22-of-22 effort from the free throw line. He also had 14 rebounds and eight assists.

PARIS DAVIS, Skyline, basketball, Sr. -- Davis scored a game-high 35 points, including four in the final overtime, as the Titans outlasted Santa Teresa-San Jose 97-94 in six overtimes in the first round of the Granada Holiday Tournament. He also produced a game-high 27 points in a 73-72 overtime semifinal loss to Granada, and a game-high 16 points in a 67-36 win over Ripon in the third-place game.

Keven Campbell doing some damage for Cal Maritime

Out of Stockton and San Joaquin Delta College, junior backcourter Keven Campbell is performing well for the 6-7 Cal Maritime Keelhaulers.

Campbell is averaging just under 14 points a game, bolstered by shooting just below 42% on 53 long distance shots.

Flying tortillas?

NO, this isn't another one of those 'I saw a UFO' stories.

Instead, objects later determined to be corn tortillas came sailing on to the court in the last minute of UC Santa Barbara's road victory Tuesday night over San Diego.

They had previously been sighted in the area of The Thunderdome in Isla Vista but quite some time ago.

Dominican University fell 68-43 to Seattle Pacific despite 14 points and seven boards by Jacob Noisat.

Following up on three Harvard - Bay Area basketballers

We see former Branson backcourter Oliver McNally on the Harvard roster this season as well as freshman Max Hooper who played at Valley Christian but Jesuit High's Jamie Moore is absent. The 6-foot-8 Moore was on the roster last season. Anyone know what's up?

Updates on James Davis and Brendan Keane

Arroyo High backcourter James Davis and St. Joseph's Notre Dame big  Brendan Keane both migrated off to Northern Colorado of the Big Sky Conference after their senior seasons.

As freshmen, it appears Davis redshirting while Keane is averaging just over nine minutes a game, scoring two points and grabbing a rebound per contest.
