From Howard Senzell:
College Park pulled away from Montgomery late in the second quarter and went on to win their nonleague boys basketball game, 56-41, at the Vikings’ gym Friday night.
The score was 20-20 before the Falcons ended the first half with a 10-3 run.
Montgomery was playing its fifth game in seven days and fourth without playmaker Michael Septimo. He injured his knee last Friday in the opening round of the Torrey Pines Classic.
“He does so many things for us,” coach Tom Fitchie said. “Without him in the lineup, it leaves a big hole. We’re not extremely deep, so we can’t replace what he does for us.
“We’re just having a hard time right now. We haven’t had a practice since before Christmas. We need to compensate for not having Septimo.”
