With only a week remaining before the start of the fall semester, University of Arkansas-Fort Smith men’s basketball coach Josh Newman continues to bolster his roster for the upcoming season.Grant played his freshman year at the University of Maryland Baltimore County and then transferred to Foothill, playing for Coach Shanan Rosenberg.
The sixth-year Lions coach recently signed Shawn Grant, a 6-foot-5 guard from San Jose, Calif., and said he expects to add one more player before the start of fall classes on Monday.
“We are proud to announce that Shawn has decided to attend UAFS and join the Lions family,” Newman said. “He will be able to make an immediate impact with his shooting ability and size, along with his maturity and experience as a scoring guard.”
Grant, who will be a junior, will give the Lions a perimeter scoring threat. He averaged 13 points per game, shot 49 3-pointers and earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors this past season at Foothill College, a junior college in Los Altos Hills, CA.
