  2. Aloha DeAndre, I am so happy you chose BYUH. It's a great school for many reasons and the community is awesome. The environment is like no other and I am sure you will have a great experience.

I played BBall at BYUH for 2 years and learned a lot about myself and what I wanted out of life. This school and place has a way of doing that. Although small, the school is beautiful and the backdrop and scenery is like no other.

There have been many players from BYUH that went on to play professionally, include the NBA, so you'll have your opportunities here. The pipeline is great for International Ball as well.

At BYUH you'll experience many things, but the most unique of them is the Aloha Spirit. It's one of those things that you can't know until you experience it but it's a feeling of home and love from all those around you. Can't wait to watch you play here. My family and I come to every home game so we'll be cheering for you every night. Good luck and can't wait to see you in the Seasider Colors.

  4. Aloha DeAndre,

We are so happy you chose BYUH and can't wait to see you play. You'll love the school and you made a very good choice in selecting BYUH.

I played 2 years at BYUH under Coach Wagner and he is a good guy. You learn a lot about yourself and where you want to be in life at BYUH. The place is small but the people and the professors are great. The backdrop is one of a kind and you'll fall in love with the Community once you get to know them.

I love my experience at BYUH and playing ball there. Many of the guys that I played with went on to play professionally overseas. We've even had some go on to play in the NBA from BYUH. It has a great pipeline if that is your intention but more than that this place helps you develop into a great person. That doesn't show up in the annual reports but it's so true about this place.

My family and I watch all the home games and my kids love cheering for the Seasiders. We can't wait to see you in a Seasider uniform and look forward to cheering for you soon. Take care and look forward to seeing you when you get here. Go 'Siders!!

  18. Dreams play a big role in my life, as I am sure it does for everyone. Growing up in the small town of Laie, I was the type of kid that wanted to grow up so fast, so that I can get off the “rock,” to take life into my own hands and explore the world. As my senior year of high school approached, I realized that colleges had now become a priority in my life, what college should I attend? What I wanted to do? How I was going to get there? Requirements I had to do to get accepted into college. All these questions ran through my mind. Today I find myself in the State of Arizona studying at the best Aeronautical University in the world. Students that attend here come from all over the world to study in the majors that this university has to offer. After leaving Laie, I did not realize how much I wanted to go back. It was like the saying of “You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone,” had suddenly come true. Although leaving home was tough I knew I was ready to spread my wings and fly because of how this community raised me. Laie is perhaps the best place to live, learn, and grow. The people here are so supportive in all you do, and they offer help to those in need in a heartbeat. This community is like a big family. It has a big effect on each life that either lives here or visits. Also there are things to do here, it may be a small town but nearby there’s a beach, awesome high school football games in the fall, movie theater, jobs at one of the biggest tourist attraction places in Hawaii, etc. all in walking distance. So if you ever need a break from studying so hard, or the weekend before finals the beach or the temple (which is so peaceful)are the best places to go to let go of stress and relax. Laie is an amazing community and I know that you, Dre’, will love it there. Supporting you all the way, spread your wings a fly. It’s never a bad thing to try something new. Enjoy your college experience at Brigham Young University Hawaii and congratulations on getting in.

  33. Congratulations on making a final decision DeAndre. Choosing where to continue your athletic career after high school can be a stressful and agonizing process sometimes. I'm sure there are some haters out there who aren't happy with your choice to play at BYU-H. But it is inevitable that good players always leave a trail of haters behind them who don't like where they decide to play college ball. Three years ago, my nephew was a nationally touted recruit in football and was heavily criticized in the media for where he chose to continue his athletic career. Today a lot of people are eating their words because things have turned out great, and he couldn't have asked for a better experience than what he's had so far.

There's obviously a reason you chose the Seasiders. Whatever it is, you don't need anyone's permission to make up your own mind. Go make your dream come true bro. Don't look back, leave the haters in the dust, and welcome to the Seasider family. Go get 'em DeAndre.

Welcome to the Red Raider Nation....Oh yeah, my bad...to the Seasiders Home!!! hahahaha.... BYUH in LAIE is....THE GATHERING PLACE! Can't wait to see you work your Magic on the Court!!!!

  38. Congratulations Dre! I played volleyball for BYU-H and it was an honor to do so. As a team we had the opportunity to travel all over the world to play some awesome teams. We even beat NCAA teams ranked #1 and #2 the same year and haven't gotten invited to play one of the teams since that day! LOL! When we traveled we knew we also had another mission other than to show our love for the sport but also to carry the message of joy and hope through the Gospel of Christ.people wondered why we were so happy. One lady told me she hadn't seen light in a group of people's eyes as she saw in us. We knew why and we shared it with her. You made a great choice. You will gain knowledge in ALL areas of your life that will benefit you for years to come! Aloha nui loa...Aunty!

Congratulations Dre'! I know you are going to have a great experience at BYU-Hawaii, because the people there are genuine and will accept you like you're their own. There is nothing like Laie love, but you can't know that until you live there and experience it yourself. It's like having a big family there when you're away from your own family. On top of getting a good education from BYU-Hawaii, there are so many different cultures and people from all different walks of life, it will just be a great experience for you. Plus, you get to do what you love doing in Paradise right?

Now that you'll be in Hawaii that gives us another reason to come back home and see you play and cheer you on.

  50. Aloha, even though i don't know you, i was asked to express my support for your chosing to transfer to BYUHawaii...As a career move, the school is not known for putting out professional atheletes, however, what the school is known for is putting out the best quality "people" throughout the world. Your skills, talents, and training on the court will be blessed and magnified, in addition you will become more loved, respected, trusted, and obtain more true lifetime friends than you would anywhere else. You will also go forward as an ambassador of "good" to wherever you decide to reside. For myself, coming out of inner-city Los Angeles attending BYUHawaii was never part of my plans, nevertheless, somehow i was directed there nearly 30 years ago and I owe my happy life to my experiences gained there. I'm 50 years old, happily married with 4 kids and I later earned an MBA and I run my own business. Mahalo me kealoha BYUHawaii.
