Praise for Marcus Lee

Josh Paunil has praise for Marcus Lee after a recent tourney:
Marcus Lee | Class of 2013 | Power Forward | 6’9 | 200

The California big man was solid in every aspect but needs to get much stronger so he can’t get pushed around inside. He has a good combination of length and athleticism and displayed a good spin move in the paint. He attacks the offensive glass on a consistent basis which nets him easy tip-ins and second-chance points for his teammates. He did a good job of adjusting to contact around the basket and was able to finish through contact on a consistent basis.
A bit of unsolicited advice to ML: Go unorthodox -- you have a gazillion offers already so forget any remaining tournaments this spring and summer. You have nothing to gain by participating in those so simply focus on weight gain and improving basketball skills. An uptick in both will be the difference between contributing early in college versus more basic preparation.

  1. Bad advice. He doesn't play against high level guys on a regular basis in high school so he needs the competition. There is plenty of time for him to work on his game in the gym this summer and still play on the circuit.
