Read this by stewusu98 on the Utah State basketball message board and it hit home:
"For me it is the rule changes. I used to love watching college so much more than the pro's and still enjoy college more but they are trying to take away the team game in college. The new rules make it harder to defend the dribble and easier to get a foul called with an off the ball screen. So stupid!!! I loved watching Stew ball where he would run a ton of off ball screens to get the ball to a shooter or to get the ball into the post with one foot in the paint for an easy basket. I hate isolation basketball!!! It takes so much strategy out of the game, yes it takes advantage of athletes abilities, but it takes the strategy and team play out of the game I used to love."
This past July in Las Vegas, there was a team based in Indiana -- a travel ball squad -- which minimized the dribble drive and instead relied on using screens and cuts to create open shots. It was simultaneously mesmerizing, exhilarating to watch and successful -- team play and synchronicity at its best.
