* Feather River College 105 - College of the Redwoods 82

From COTR Athletics:

College of the Redwoods allowed 60 first-half points and the men’s basketball team lost its third consecutive Golden Valley Conference game on Saturday, falling to Feather River 105-82 in Quincy.

CR (0-3 in the GVC and 6-12 overall), which has now lost seven of its past eight games since starting the year 5-4, has lost to Butte, Lassen and Feather River by 34, 40 and 22 points, respectively, to start GVC play.

“We’re in a funk,” said CR head coach Justin Mora. “But we have to keep things in perspective and keep working hard because those are three of the better teams in Northern California.”

CR sophomore Johnny Shelton led the Corsairs in scoring with 18 points, while Daymarcco Green (11) and Jamal Easterling (10) also finished in double figures.

“It was actually close for most of the first half,” Mora said. “But in about the last eight minutes they blew it open. We went cold, they got hot and their pressure got to us.”

Redwoods trailed 60-36 at the break and actually outscored the Golden Eagles in the second half, 46-45, but the game was never in reach.

“After the game I told the guys that we just have to stay focused,” Mora said. “We have a couple of winnable games coming up so we’ve got to be ready to go and have a bounce-back game.”
