Ellsworth coming to Vallejo

Cal Maritime athletics: "California Maritime Academy men's basketball coach Bryan Rooney has announced the commitment of Garrett Ellsworth for the 2015-2016 season.

Ellsworth joins the Keelhaulers after a solid high school career at Buchanan High School in Fresno. As a senior, Garrett averaged 10.1 point per game, 7.4 rebounds per game and 1.6 blocks per game. He also received Buchanan's prestigious BEAR Award given to the Outstanding Senior Basketball Player. At the conclusion of the season, the 6'6" Ellsworth was selected to play in the City All Star Game as well as the North/South All Star Game. Garrett also excels on the volleyball court as he currently helps lead Buchanan's nationally ranked volleyball team. Garrett will be majoring in International Business.

"We are thrilled that Garrett is joining the Keelhauler family!  We believe he has a great deal of potential and more importantly we are impressed at the drive he has in working to reach this potential. I am very excited for his journey in our program and look forward to him accomplishing outstanding things on the court and in the classroom," responded Coach Rooney when asked about Ellsworth's commitment.

Garrett joins a Cal Maritime basketball program fresh off its conference record fourth consecutive trip to the NAIA National Tournament after capturing the California Pacific Conference regular season and conference tournament championships.

Ellsworth explained his decision to attend Cal Maritime, "The reason I decided on Cal Maitime is because not only is it a great school academically, but also because their basketball program is second to none. Their basketball team is one of the hardest working teams I've ever seen on the court, the players are all great people, and I would love to be a part of such a great program. At Cal Maritime I look forward to an outstanding education that prepares me for my future, and a great basketball career. I hope to be conference champions every year and improve my skills as a player."
