Devin Aye will be starting his fourth season as a collegiate head coach at Cosumnes River College this fall. Aye comes from Lassen College where he inherited a program in April 2012 that had won a total of 3 games combined the previous two seasons. In his first year, Aye resuscitated Lassen College men's basketball with a record of 23-9, a GVC championship, and a top 10 ranking in the state and a #9 seed in Nor Cal playoffs. The 2012-13 season ended on the road in the Sweet 16 of the California Community College men's basketball playoffs. Aye received Golden Valley Conference Coach of the Year, and has also been elected the GVC Men's Basketball Executive Board Representative. In the 2013-14 season, his Cougars finished 2nd place in the GVC, and received the 10th seed in Nor Cal playoffs. The year concluded with yet another top 10 state ranking during the season, and a 19-14 record. Since taking over, the basketball program has won 42 games which is the 8th best in the entire state over the last two seasons.
Aye's coaching career includes stints as an assistant at both the NCAA, NAIA and Community College levels for 7 years with stops at Cosumnes River College, CSU East Bay and Chabot College. Aye spent 2005-06 at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento, California under former head coach James Giacomazzi. The team posted a 20 win season for first time in years. Aye spent 2006-08, and 2010-12 at Chabot College in Hayward, California under future Hall of Fame coach and father Denny Aye with each team earning a state playoff berth and averaging 20 wins.
In the summer of 2008 Aye was hired as full-time assistant coach at CSU East Bay under Will Biggs where his recruiting helped win Cal Pac Conference and Cal Pac Tournament for first time in school history. Aye also was responsible for recruit Tauran Moore who won Male Athlete of the Year, All American, and Cal Pac Player of the Year.
Aye played collegiate basketball at San Jose City College for Hall of Fame coach Percy Carr. During his freshman year, Aye transferred to play for his father, at Marshalltown Community College where his team eventually beat the 3 time defending national champions (Southeastern CC) twice, Indian Hills and #1 ranked Moberly. MCC finished with a school record 25-9 record and an NJCAA Region XI Runner-Up finish. 7 of the 10 players on the team received NCAA I scholarships. Devin concluded his career due to injury.
Aye received his AA degree at Marshalltown CC in 2005, and his Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology from CSU East Bay in 2008. In 2009, Coach Aye completed his Masters of Science in Sport Management from California University Pennsylvania and in summer of 2014 completed his second Masters of Science in Exercise from California University of Pennsylvania.
