Mauldin, Singh and the rest of the Pioneers doing it in the classroom

"Guards Tre Mauldin and Paramvir (Newark Memorial High) Singh of the Cal State East Bay men's basketball team have been named to the 2014-15 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court, which recognizes student-athletes who excelled in academics this past season.

In order to earn a place in the NABC Honors Court, student-athletes must meet a high standard of academic criteria. Honorees must be academic juniors or seniors who have matriculated at least one year at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher.

Mauldin, a kinesiology major who utilized a medical redshirt in 2014-15, boasts a 3.4 GPA after posting a perfect 4.0 mark in the most recent quarter. Singh also checks in at 3.4 as a business administration major, and the Hayward native earned California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Academic honors after playing in a career-high 20 games as a redshirt sophomore.

Mauldin and Singh are the only student-athletes from the CCAA and the only representatives of the California State University system to be recognized on the 2014-15 Honors Court. Last week, the NABC also announced Cal State East Bay as a recipient of the 2014-15 Team Academic Excellence Award.

The Pioneers have now posted a team grade point average of at least 3.0 for four straight quarters, including an impressive mark of 3.22 this past Spring."
