Rattler Jr. honored

"Humboldt State men's basketball is off to a 6-1 start for the second straight season, and sophomore Tyras Rattler Jr. has been a big reason why. Rattler was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week Tuesday morning.

The Oakland, Calif., native averaged 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game as he helped lead the Green and Gold to a 3-0 mark last week. This is his first career selection as player of the week.

Rattler shot 50 percent from the field, scored 19 points, grabbed six boards and swiped three steals in Monday's win over Simpson. He followed up the Simpson game with a career-best performance against Dominican. Rattler scored a career-high 29 points to go with five rebounds versus the Penguins. He added 12 points, seven rebounds and three steals in Saturday's conference matchup with Cal State San Marcos."
