Patterson honored

Jalen Patterson (Liberty Ranch, Galt) Fr.

"While he is just a freshman and will have plenty more games with the Hawks, it may be hard to top Patterson’s performance when No. 6 seed Liberty Ranch defeated the No. 3 seed Calaveras of San Andreas 82-67 in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV playoffs.

Facing a Calaveras team that had won its last 17 games at home and their last home loss coming over 400 days ago, Patterson knocked down 10 three-pointers and finished with 34 points. More amazingly, he was 10 of 11 from three-point range with several of his treys coming from way behind the line, according to former CIF SJS assistant commissioner John WIlliams, who witnessed the performance. Patterson missed his first attempt, then made 10 in a row.

Averaging 17 points per game this season, Patterson’s previous season and career-high was 27 points, which came during a loss to McKinleyville."
