A disagreement

Saw that one of the basketball figures based out west here recently labeled point guard James Akinjo as an elite prospect. There certainly is a lot to both like and respect in the young man's game and demeanor and, yes, the definition of 'elite prospect' can differ from one person to the next but Akinjo isn't there quite yet.

His production this weekend in EYBL play is a microcosm of what remains to be achieved -- consistent production against the best and better opponents.

Akinjo began on Friday with 16 points plus five assists with 6-11 overall shooting plus 2-3 from long range. He expanded that on Saturday morning to 27 and nine on 9-15 and 3-4 accuracy.

However, Saturday afternoon's production was seven points, two assists and 2-9 overall shooting, 1-4 from three-point range.

Sunday brought four points and four assists accompanied by 1-7 and 0-1 shooting.

Whether or not he got worn down by the travel and number of games or defenses tightened up on him after his first two contests, who knows?

So what's in your brain about this?
