"A Transparent Program" -- Pete Warner/Bangor Daily News

This should be the present and future for most programs, especially the mid-majors and lower.

LT 78, UTEP 70

Orlando 119, Boston 114

Buoyed by a remarkable 19 points, 14 rebounds and five assists in just under 40 minutes of play for Aaron Gordon, Orlando edged the Celtics 119-114 on Sunday.

Not trying to rain on the parade but 3-9 at the foul line still has to change but Gordon is at 67% from there on the season. That's an improvement.

Bennett with national notice

In an article 'nominating' 10 Coach of the Year candidates comes a Nor Cal item:

"Randy Bennett (Saint Mary's)
When a man loses all five starters and 80 percent of his scoring, and he’s 18-2 on Feb. 1 the next season, he goes on this list. If there was an efficiency meter, Bennett’s Gaels would make it smoke, leading the nation in shooting and assist-turnover ratio, second in 3-point shooting and scoring margin, third in scoring defense. More than 64 percent of their baskets come off assists. The two losses were by seven total points.

Who knew this about Randy Bennett? When he took his team to the Sweet 16 in 2010, it was the first time in 51 years Saint Mary’s had won a game in the NCAA Tournament..."

On the court absence of Elliott Pitts

Sean Miller with the latest on Elliott Pitts: "Meanwhile, Miller said Pitts should be able to step right back in the event things ever change.

“He practices every day with us so yeah, for sure” he could play, Miller said. “Anything beyond that, it’s out of my control.”

If the issue is out of Miller’s control, that and the timing could suggest Pitts is not sitting out because of an academic, health or team-related disciplinary issue.

When asked if he expected Pitts could still return at some point this season, this is how Miller responded:

“I hope so. I think it’s fair for me to say we miss him. One of the things you look at with our team is depth in the backcourt, especially without Allonzo, a perimeter defender, somebody else who can take the burden off of Kadeem Allen, but also having two defensive stoppers in the game together where you just have that 15-20 minute window where you have some guys with the know how, the ability, (being) 6-5 and been there, done that, which he has, you add him to what we have and no question our team jumps up a notch.

“I hope so. I can’t expound any more than that.”

Redwoods 94, Lassen 90 OT

It required an overtime period before College of the Redwoods was able to edge past Lassen College 94-90 on Saturday.
