Rick Croy likes Michael Smith
Rick Croy, formerly at St. Mary's and now heading the Cal Baptist program in southern California has landed a Bay Area talent -- 6-foot-4 Michael Smith of El Camino High and the San Francisco Rebels -- per this Jerina tweet.
Madsen to the LA Defenders?
He got the most press out of 2.1 and 2.8 rebounds a game of anyone ever appearing in the NBA so it was either become head coach of the LA Defenders or go on "Dancing With The Stars" and dominate -- of course, we're writing about Stanford's Mark Madsen.
Vincent gets more national press
A tweet from Verbal Commits: "Gabe Vincent (Oakland Solders) finished off his weekend with a 19pts (8-10 FGs, 3-5 3pts) performance"
Vincent will have so many options -- it will be fascinating where he ends up. Does he go to the highest? what looks like the best fit? Pay attention to this one because it's going to be a difficult decision to make.

The mysterious Villa 7
So many people don't know about Villa 7 but you can bet 100% of assistant coaches do.

The teardrop
Just really dislike this shot but that probably says more about me than anything else so, of course, here are my takeaways from the article:
* "If you have the touch to do it..."
and
* "Robinson has been working on his version for years — 'and it’s still not perfect,' he said..."

More notice for Isiah Thomas
An Eric Bossi tweet: "2015 big man Isiah Thomas from Oakland is intriguing. Big kid, soft hands, uses glass well"
He's 6-foot-7, plays with the Oakland Rebels, is in the 2015 class and attends Kipp King School in San Lorenzo.

Andoh moves across country
Former San Jose State Spartan and St. Mary's High prepster David Andoh has committed to Wagner -- per this Adam Zagoria tweet: "David Andoh, a 6-7 stretch 4 from San Jose, is transferring to Wagner. Will have 3 yrs after sitting out this year"
Andoh is a Montreal native and I believe his parents are currently living there so he will definitely be closer to home.

Transfer rules
If coaches want to make sitting out a year upon transferring mandatory for players, then why shouldn't a head or assistant coach have to sideline himself for a year when moving to a new job?
Of course, that latter part isn't do-able but the entire situation remains a double standard.
Plus, what about allowing players to transfer without hindrance if their head coach moves to a different pschool? Isn't that only fair?
Bottomline, there's too much institutional power right now and it all favors those in charge.
And just what constitutes a transfer crisis? It's hard to see a "condition of instability or danger" here. Let's re-label it and say college basketball is exemplifying individual freedom on the march.
