"Leigh coach Patrick Judge steps down" -- Darren Sabedra/BANG

"Manteca sophomore earns his keep" -- Thomas Lawrence/Stockton Record

Very good profile

College of the Sequoias highlight tape

College of the Sequoias finished 20-12 this season, 8-4 in the Central Valley Conference and featured an all state player. The Giants made it to the Final Eight this season before falling to eventual champion City College of San Francisco.

Valparaiso 60, St. Mary's 44

The first thought that comes to mind upon seeing this score is that there must be a typo. The Gaels must have scored 144, right? But no, it's accurate as St. Mary's missed its first 10 second-half shots and allowed a 16-0 scoring run in falling 60-44 on the road Tuesday in Indiana as part of the NIT.

Randy Bennett's guys shot 19-56 overall while Valpo, a member of the Horizon league, was a more efficient 23-50. At the foul line, the Gaels earned just five attempts and made but one.

Box
Ed Isaacson: "I get in a way the excitement some have for Chriss and Murray, but their understanding of the game is so low right now, they’d be lost as pros."

Marquese Chriss & Dejounte Murray are Husky freshman. The ultra sensitive may see this as hate but Isaacson is simply making an observation and offering his professional opinion.

Nothing done this way will make any difference

"Petition pushes to keep Cuonzo Martin as Cal’s basketball coach" -- Connor Letourneau/San Francisco Chronicle

It's a nice gesture but beyond that...

Dawkins to Central Florida

From The Farm to the University of Central Florida in Orlando -- that's the arc of former Stanford Coach Johnny Dawkins movement. UCF is a member of the American Athletic Conference and went 12-18, 6-12 this past season. The entire state is fertile recruiting territory and who would decline the white sand and temperatures of Orlando in favor of the white winter, 30 degree highs of so much of the rest of the country.

National Association of Basketball Coaches Announces 2016 Coaches’ Division II All-America Team

The National Association of Basketball Coaches has announced its 2016 Coaches’ Division II All-America Team and California Baptist junior guard Michael (El Camino High) Smith has been selected.

Congratulations to him on this fine achievement.

Do I or don't I

"Cal’s Jaylen Brown, Ivan Rabb soon must decide on pro futures" -- Connor Letourneau/San Francisco Chronicle

There will be a lot of millions burned before Brown can consistently help an NBA team but that's not his concern.

COM men's basketball

John Murphy: "College of Marin is looking for an athletic director..."

Does this delay a determination on the next COM men's basketball coach?

No Lavin for USF?

CBB Coaching Carousel: "Columbia's Kyle Smith and Eastern Washington's Jim Hayford are among the names involved at San Francisco."

This makes it sound like a financial agreement with Steve Lavin wasn't reached and that the Dons have moved on as Lavin seemingly would have signed by now if such was do-able.

Sendek a Bronco?

Evan Daniels: "Former Arizona State coach Herb Sendek is currently on Santa Clara's campus, multiple sources told Scout."

Sounds like the powers-that-be on El Camino Real are in ultra serious mode.
