Tarkanian feted in Fresno

The Fresno Bee's Bryant-Jon Anteola writes about Fresno State honoring Jerry tarkanian:
Jerry Tarkanian strolled into the Elbow Room on Saturday night and immediately was greeted by cheers and applause.

Just like old times.

Even at 83, needing a walker to move around and his speech slowed, Coach Tark still lights up Fresno.

Tarkanian, who lives in Las Vegas, visited this weekend to celebrate ahead of his induction into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. About 140 people packed the restaurant, rekindling the atmosphere when Tarkanian often made a postgame trip to the restaurant while he was the coach at Fresno State from 1995-2002.

Among those in attendance were Fresno State men's and women's basketball coaches Rodney Terry and Raegan Pebley, Athletic Director Thomas Boeh and a few former players, including Larry Abney.

"I'm happy to be back in Fresno," Tarkanian said. "It's a real nice event."

Tarkanian smiled and posed for countless photos and offered a few words to the crowd.

His health has worsened in the past year, son Danny Tarkanian said. He suffered a heart attack in March 2012 and had a pacemaker installed just last month...
Head here for the remainder.
