The Marysville High boys basketball team started its Golden Empire League schedule on a high note.
The Indians defeated Mesa Verde 59-54 on Friday night in Citrus Heights to open their GEL slate.
Danny Lewis led the Indians (15-4 overall) with 16 points and big man Erik Schieve posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
