The bench provided a boost in the second half as the Yuba College men's basketball team rallied for an 82-70 Bay Valley Conference victory over Napa Valley College on Saturday night in Linda.
Reserves Barry Ogalue and Gary Melvin combined for 20 second-half points as the 49ers bounced back after entering halftime behind 35-32. Ogalue scored 13 of his 14 points in the second half and Melvin scored all seven of his after the break.
Chris Smith led the 49ers with 20 points as they moved to a perfect 4-0 BVC play and improved to 10-4 overall.
Floyd Wormley fell just shy of a double-double with 12 points, eight rebounds and four assists, and Jaysen Williams scored nine points and grabbed eight rebounds in just 12 minutes of action in his return from a knee injury
