Here are the northern California-connected names:
* Cole Lockwood (Santa Clara)
He was definitely locked in as a shooter against Gunn of Palo Alto with
41 points during the Bruins’ 86-67 triumph. The 6-foot-1 senior guard is
one of the top scorers this season in the CIF Central Coast Section.
* Jalen Benitez (Prospect, Saratoga)
He pumped in 31 points during a 75-49 win over Evergreen Valley, which
gets him listed here, but he also had 15 points while going a perfect
8-for-8 from the free-throw line during a 72-65 win over Gunderson
* Danny Mahoney (Serra, San Mateo)
Showing that Trevor Dunbar of St. Ignatius is not the only stat star
from the West Catholic Athletic League, Mahoney hit on 21 of his
game-high 30 points in the first half when the Padres defeated
Bellarmine of San Jose 60-45.
* Matthew Thomas (Newark Memorial, Newark)
In a game that CalHiSports was there to see, he had 19 points, 17
rebounds and six blocks as the Cougars extended their 41-game MVAL
winning streak with a 65-64 win over Moreau Catholic of Hayward in front
of a standing-room only crowd. Thomas is a 6-foot-8 senior has had some
other strong double-double outings this season, including 20 points and
13 rebounds when Newark Memorial handed Jesuit of Carmichael its first
loss of the season.
