Unsung JC shooting talents

Like at any level, there are players performing well in shooting accuracy who receive little, if any recognition. So here's an attempt at rectification of that. Please note that the following doesn't include academic achievements needed to transfer, ability to get one's own shot, ballhandling talent, defensive prowess -- just shooting talent. The required qualifications here are: combinations of around 50% shooting overall, 40% from long distance and 75% from the foul line.

* 5-10 sophomore Drew Cones, Los Medanos: 17.7 points per game but more importantly 49%, 48% and 83% shooting.

* 6-foot-3 sophomore Jalil Eppenger, Merritt: 11.0 points per game, with 52%, 52% and 73% shooting.

* 6-foot-3 sophomore Nicolus Guzman, San Joaquin Delta College: with 50%, 44% and 79% shooting.

* 6-foot-3 sophomore Alec Kobre, Santa Rosa: 14.7 points per game, 46%, 38% and 94% shooting.

* 6-foot freshman Matt Hayes, Santa Rosa: 14.6 points per game, 43% 45% and 90% shooting.

* 6-foot-5 sophomore TJ Williams, Cosumnes River: 11.0 points per game, 63%, 67% and 71% shooting.

* 6-foot-5 freshman Nazariy Yakimchuk, American River: 11.4 points per game, 50%, 57% and 70% shooting.

* 6-foot-4 freshman Derek Rhodes, Sacramento City: 10.2 points per game, 50%, 48% and 77% shooting.

* 6-foot sophomore Lavar Moore, Siskiyous: 20.7 points per game, 55%, 47% and 87% shooting.

* 6-foot freshman Johnny Shelton Jr., Redwoods: 13.9 points per game, 50%, 50% and 84% shooting.

* 6-foot-3 sophomore Chuks Iregobu, San Francisco: 13.1 points per game, 55%, 50% and 73% shooting.

* 6-foot-2 freshman Janvier Alaby, Foothill: 13.1 points per game, 48%, 46% and 70% shooting.

* 6-foot-3 sophomore Cortez Barrett, Chabot: 11.9 points per game, 60%, 48% and 72% shooting.

* 5-foot-10 freshman Leo Smith, Chabot: 11.8 points per game, 56%, 46% and 80% shooting.
