Do the colleges even actually measure their players?

So Fresno State listed Tyler Johnson as 6-foot-4 on its official roster. At the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, he measured out at 6-foot-2. But with a 6-foot-6 wingspan.

Weber State's Davion Berry stood 6-foot-4 until the PTI folks whittled him down to 6-foot-2 and a half. His wingspan: 6-foot-6 and three quarters.

Guess there's the freshman 15 and, if you play college hoops, the freshman - senior two or so.

About effort on the court at the PIT, Jonathan Givony of the Draft Express tweeted: "...Davion Berry (super versatile) also looked good"

  1. Shoes add an average of 1.25 inches to a player's height. Listed heights are always with shoes. Portsmouth heights are without shoes. Berry's listed height of 6'4" is thus pretty dang accurate. Johnson probably should be listed at 6'3" though.
