William Jessup University men's basketball coach Lance Von Vogt announced his first signing to the 2014 recruiting class with the addition of Cody Wilcox.

"Cody is a terrific sign for us for all the right reasons; high character, academics, and athletic ability," stated Coach Von Vogt. "He addresses our biggest need for next year which is size, but the great thing is he is much more than just size. He can play and will only get better as he develops. Cody's best basketball is in front of him and he will represent our University in a great way. We couldn't be happier to have him as a Warrior!"

Wilcox, a 6'7 forward/center, transfers to the Warriors from Sierra College. The Grass Valley native averaged 5.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in 28 games for the Wolverines.  In the classroom, Wilcox carried a 3.83 GPA.  He will have three years of eligibility for the Warriors.

In high school, Wilcox starred at Nevada Union High School.  He earned Sierra Foothill League second team honors in his senior season.

"I picked WJU because of the rising potential of the basketball program and the school.  It allows me the opportunity to grow as a basketball player and a person. I also chose WJU because I really respected Coach Von Vogt and know he will be a great man to coach me for this part of my career and life."

The Warriors will open up the season at home on November 6th against Northwest Christian University. The 2014-15 season will mark the Warriors first year in the Golden State Athletic Conference.
