The 2010 Bay Area Competition Clinic

No, you haven't been transported into some sort of time machine. We are going to revisit the talents listed under the top prospects who participated in the 2010 Bay Area Competition Clinic and their respective analyses because it's always fascinating to see where they are now.

TOP PROSPECTS:

6’4 SF Dylan Alexander 2013 of Weston Ranch HS, Stockton (Independent #1)
Alexander was one of the pleasant surprises of the event who played very well. He is a deceptively athletic wing who is a capable handler and passer. He has a nice first step and gets to the basket consistently. He’s also a good shooter with three-point range. This is a definitely a name to put on the radar for college coaches in the class of 2013.

* He walked on at San Jose State University as a freshman and is now spending his sophomore season at Casper College in Wyoming.

6’4 SF Noah Allen 2013 of Palma HS, Salinas
Allen has a real nice combination of athleticism and skill. He’s a long-armed wing who can handle and pass it fairly well. He has a nice first step and can get to the basket. He can also pull up in the half court quite well. He shoots it with a lot of confidence and is a solid rebounder. A definite division I player from the class of 2013.

* Allen didn't play much as a UCLA freshman but looks like he will be a four-year Bruin who should be getting on the court more as an upperclassman.

6’7 PF/SF David Andoh 2012 of St. Mary’s HS, Berkeley
Andoh is a fairly athletic combo forward who is a nice all-around scorer. He can break down a defender one on one and has a nice mid-range game. He can score on the block some but prefers to play facing the basket. He is also a solid rebounder. Andoh has a nice game but just needs to learn to focus better in order to develop into a consistent player who maximizes his talents.

* He spent his freshman year at San Jose State University and his sophomore one at Merritt College. Andoh is now at Liberty University in Virginia as a junior.

6’3 SG/PG Glenn Baral 2012 of St. Mary’s HS, Berkeley
Baral is a combo guard who has nice skills and plays with a lot of confidence. He is a solid handler and has a nice hesitation move from the wing. He also pulls very nicely mid-range in the half court. He shoots it ok with three-point range. Baral will be a Division I player, it’s just a question of how high he ultimately goes.

* Baral is entering his sophomore year at Stetson University.

6’2 SF/PF Joe Barnes 2013 of Sacramento HS, Sacramento
Barnes is an athletic combo forward who runs the floor well. He is an ok ball handler and a good driver with a nice first step.

* He was a freshman at Cosumnes River College last year. Not sure where he is at for 2014-15.

6’5 PF/C Shon Briggs 2014 of Heritage HS, Antioch
Briggs sure doesn’t look or play like a freshman. He is a big-bodied combo postman who can score around the basket. He also has a nice one-bounce drive from the high post area. He is also a solid rebounder. Briggs is a very nice-looking young prospect with a bright future.

* Briggs is a freshman at Casper College in Wyoming.

6’0 SG Aaron Cameron 2013 of Sacramento HS, Sacramento (
Cameron is a fairly athletic two guard with nice skills. He handles it well and finishes in transition effectively. He is a good driver and he shoots fairly well with three-point range. Cameron is a nice all-around scorer who has the potential to be a mid major player.

* Cameron is a sophomore at Cal State East Bay.

5’9 PG/SG Demoriaye Hart-Spikes 2014 of St. Patrick-St. Vincent’s HS, Vallejo
Hart-Spikes was one of the bright young prospects in the event. He is a very athletic combo guard who finishes well in transition. He is a solid handler and passer. Most impressive is his ability to drive the ball to the basket. He has a nice first step and consistently breaks down the defender. Hart-Spikes shows tremendous promise in the class of 2014.

* Hart-Spikes is a freshman at Cosumnes River College.

6’1 SG Rae Jackson 2013 of Rodriguez HS, Fairfield
Jackson is an athletic shooting guard who was quite impressive in this event. He is a capable handler who runs the floor well and is real effective in transition. He pulls up very well, both on the break and in the half court. He is also a fairly good shooter with three-point range and a competitor. This is a new name on the radar that many college coaches will (and need to) become very familiar with real soon!

* Word is Jackson is at Chabot College but this is unconfirmed.

5’8 PG George Johnson 2013 of De La Salle HS, Concord
Johnson proved to be one of the more versatile players in the event. He is an athletic one man who can make plays in transition. He also pulls up well in the half court. He is a confident ball handler and knows how to run a team. Johnson shoots it ok with three-point range.

* Again, unconfirmed but last word is that Johnson is with the Academy of Art basketball program.

6’7 SF/PF Marcus Lee 2013 of Deer Valley HS, Antioch
Lee is a fairly athletic combo forward who prefers to play on the perimeter. He can handle and pass and pulls up effectively in transition. He shoots it fairly well and is a capable rebounder. Lee projects to be a mid major prospect.

* Lee is a sophomore at Kentucky and already getting mentioned as a member of upcoming NBA drafts.

5’10 PG Markel Leonard 2013 of Salesian HS, Richmond
Leonard is an athletic point guard who runs the floor well. He is a solid ball handler and a very good passer. He makes plays in transition and can pull up in the half court. He has a nice first step and can break down the defender.

West is a really athletic one man with nice speed and quickness. He is a solid handler, has a real nice first step and is a very effective penetrator.
