The Nor Cal Tipoff


Bishop O'Dowd vs. Bishop Gorman highlights 8th annual Nor Cal Tip Off Classic which will be held Saturday November 29, 2014 at Newark Memorial High School. The event is designed to promote/showcase Northern California basketball to college coaches, media/scouts and the general public.

There will be seven games on the day beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Game 1: 11:00 AM College Park (Pleasant Hill) vs. St. Mary’s (Stockton)
Game 2: 12:30 PM San Ramon Valley (Danville) vs. Cordova (Rancho Cordova)
Game 3: 2:15 PM Moreau Catholic (Hayward) vs. Drake (San Anselmo)
Game 4: 3:45 PM Berkeley vs. St. Joseph-Notre Dame (Alameda)
Game 5: 5:30 PM Modesto Christian vs. Bullard (Fresno)
Game 6: 7:00 PM Newark Memorial (Newark) vs. Folsom
Game 7: 8:30 PM Bishop O’Dowd (Oakland) vs. Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas)

The event will culminate with the marquee matchup at 8:30 p.m. between national powers Bishop O’Dowd of Oakland and Bishop Gorman of Las Vegas. O’Dowd is lead by 6-foot-9 forward Ivan Rabb who is ranked #5 nationally in the 2015 class by ESPN. The Dragons will also feature Boise State signee 5-foot-10 Paris Davis.

Gorman is lead by 7-foot forward/center Stephen Zimmerman who is ranked #10 nationally in 2015 by ESPN and 6-foot-9 forward/center and Duke commit Chase Jeter who is ranked #9 in the ESPN top 60 rankings for 2015. 6-foot-10 Zach Collins, a rising prospect, remarkably comes off the bench for BG.

Other elite prospects playing in the Tip Off Classic include 6-foot-6 2016 wing and California commit Oscar Frayer and 6-foot-2 2017 guard Dimari Milstead, both of Moreau Catholic and 5-foot-10 2017 guard Jade' Smith of St. Joseph's-Notre Dame.

Folsom High features guard Jordan Ford who is considered the top backcourter in northern California.

Future Sacramento State Hornet Jeff Wu and soon-to-be Pacific Tiger Anthony Townes lead a tough Modesto Christian squad.

6-foot-6 Jesse Hunt, who has signed to play at Eastern Washington next season is the focus point of Drake.
