Utah inks Bealer

Matt Piper and Kyle Goon write about new Utah signee Gabe Bealer of City College of San Francisco.

A snippet:

"...It was a quiet morning at CCSF when Bealer faxed in his letter of intent. He didn't do much to celebrate, he said, and was just ready to move forward.

"Now I can just focus on one thing this year," he said. "If I didn't sign, I'd be worrying about playing and trying to get a scholarship at the same time."

Thats not where coach Justin Labagh wants Bealer's head to be, either. If there's one word to describe how Bealer needs to evolve, it's "attack." CCSF looks a lot different than it did last year, minus six players who transferred to DI schools. Bealer is poised to be the team's stars, or at least one of them.

"Those guys we had last year, they were more or less in attack mode and Gabe was kind of a complement player to us," Labagh said. "Now that he's more or less the man, he's gotta play downhill. He's got to attack guys..."
