The Mariners (23-3, 14-1 BVC) came into the game leading by a game over Yuba, which lost to Merritt 109-98. COM plays its final regular-season game at Yuba on Friday with the title in hand and hoping for at least a No. 3 seed for next week’s playoffs.

* Cabrillo College 92 - Gavilan College 62

Cabrillo College Men's Basketball:

"The comfy confines of home have been good to Cabrillo all year long and tonight was no different. Cabrillo was able to put together an impressive second half performance that propelled them to a 92-62 win. After a first half that saw the Seahawks play without the effort and enthusiasm that they have displayed all year, the second half saw a much different team as Cabrillo would outscore Gavilan 53-31.

Zavon Jackson would lead all scorers with 25 points, Latrell Wilson had 22, Allen Wilcher finished with 16 and Seth Warfield came off the bench to pour in 12 for the Seahawks. The win improves Cabrillo's record to 14-12, 6-5 in Coast South Conference play. Up next for Cabrillo is the final home game of the regular season Friday night at 7pm versus DeAnza."

* Las Positas College 91 - Ohlone College 74

LPC athletics:

"And the season might just come down to one game.

After defeating visiting Ohlone 91-74 on Wednesday night, the red-hot Hawks have one more opportunity to prove they belong in the Northern California playoffs. That comes Friday in the regular-season finale at City College of San Francisco.

Friday's 7:00 p.m. matchup features two teams riding four-game winning streaks. Although CCSF is 19-8 overall, 8-3 in the Coast Conference North Division, and a virtual shoe-in to be picked when the playoff brackets are announced Monday, the Rams have an added incentive. With a victory, CCSF, which has a one-game lead over Chabot, wins the conference outright.

Should the Hawks (16-11, 5-6) win, a .500 conference record might be tough for the selection committee to overlook. LPC would also finish third or fourth in a conference that has a reputation as one of the best in the state.

The Hawks continued their late-season surge by shooting their way past Ohlone (16-12, 3-8). Sinking 10 three-pointers in the first half, LPC built a 45-31 halftime lead.

That lead ballooned to 21 points eight minutes into the second half after Giordi V'soske drained a three for a 62-41 advantage. The Renegades pulled within 14 at 68-54 with 8:30 remaining before LPC went on a 14-4 spurt, making the score 82-58 and effectively putting the game way.

Rashad Brackeen came off the bench to lead the Hawks in scoring with 19 points. McKayle Harnell added 17 points, Nick Merrill contributed 16, and Marti Fonolla had 12.

The victory was LPC's first over Ohlone since 2012 and only the Hawks' second ever against the Renegades since the teams' first meeting in 2007. Should the Hawks win Friday, they will become only the second LPC squad to finish .500 or higher in the conference."
