* San Jose City College 64 - Cabrillo College 57

Cabrillo Men's Basketball:

"In the last of 4 consecutive conference road games Cabrillo traveled to San Jose to take on the #3 team in the state and the top team in the Coast South Conference. Things looked good early as Cabrillo jumped out to a 9-0 lead only to see San Jose charge back. Every time San Jose made a run, a Latrell Wilson, Allen Wilcher or Zavon Jackson basket would take the momentum back. Up 10 with six minutes before half, San Jose made a strong charge to close the gap, a made three-point shot as the half ticked down tied the score at halftime, both teams knotted at 30 a piece.

The second half saw the back and forth battle continue. A big charge call on Wilcher with 10 minutes left gave him his fifth foul and eliminated him for the remainder of the game. Despite the loss of their team captain and leading scorer, the Seahawks continued to fight and with two minutes to go in the game, found themselves down two. But missed free-throws down the stretch would be Cabrillo's undoing. Where Cabrillo faltered from the line San Jose capitalized, earning them a hard fought 64-57 victory. Cabrillo would shoot 10-21 from the line on the night compared to 20-28 from San Jose. Jackson led Cabrillo with 15 points, Wilson had 13 and Wilcher 12 before his early exit. The loss drops Cabrillo to 12-11 on the season, 4-4 in conference play."
